Carmen Martorella grew up in Northern Ontario Canada and now resides in Val Caron. She has always had a passion for art. Carmen specialized in the Arts Program at Sudbury Secondary School. After graduating she continued onto her studies at Cambrian College with a 3 years honours Business diploma and a minor in the Arts program. She continued her studies with Athabasca University in Canada attaining a BA in Business.
During her full time employment with CRA she continued to pursue her art as a passion where Martorella has been steadily refining her painting skills by attending Halliburton School of the Arts in Ontario and various workshops hosted by renowned artists such as Dwayne Harty, Ivan Wheale, Brian Ateyo. Her passion for learning and painting is evident in her works currently on display. Composition, colour palette, and bold interventions with paint are reflected in her landscapes.
Carmen travelled to many destinations and was inspired to paint the landscapes which she photographed in her travels. . Every painting has a story. She is inspired to paint landscapes from her parents’ hometown in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Carmen is also passionate about painting the beauty of the Northern Ontario. She loves the outdoors and connecting with nature photographing the landscapes during the four seasons.
Carmen Martorella’s art was recently accepted in the Annual La Cloche Art Show , Makers North Annual Show (Sudbury, Ontario, and the NOAA juried shows of Northern Ontario and most recently Artists Walk, Northern Lights Festival, and Makers North Market juried shows.
Carmen Martorella is currently a Board member of the Sudbury Arts Council. She was the President of the Sudbury Art Club (SAC). She is a member of the Northern Ontario Art Association (NOAA), and the International Watercolour Society(IWS) .
Carmen also is an art educator teaching beginner watercolour courses and coaching sessions every Thursdays at the Carmicheal Community Center in Sudbury.
Carmen opened her own Gallery in 2023 in Sudbury named Art & Soul Gallery and features different local artists monthly to promote the diversity our talented visual artists in the area.
Carmen continues to paint and improve her skills by attending workshops and can ensure that any purchase of her work will be an investment as she continually improves and strives for perfection and realism in her work in all mediums. She continues to explore abstract experimentation and mixed media using recycled products. Partial proceeds from her sales go to the Charities of her choice. Carmen has been teaching watercolour paint classes at various locations throughout North America. She conducts paint nights as fund raisers and for parties.
Carmen also accepts private commissions from clients in oils, watercolour, and acrylic.
